I focus on functional store and fixture designs in collaboration with the architect and key stakeholders. I lead the ideation and design of every decorative, visual merchandising and branding strategy of each space. From finishes to lighting, cashwraps to fixtures; I spec, design, source, coordinate, purchase, space plan, and romance the product.
Mood board/vision page from the creative deck I developed for concept approval in order to reflect my overall vision of the retail space.
Rock & Brews prototype rock & roll swag store. I designed the fixtures and cashwrap to look like real roadie gear boxes yet keeping them functional. I kept the overall store/fixture design and merchandising uncluttered and simple to reflect the clean look of the Rock & Brews restaurants.
Memorabilia rotunda and secondary entrance presentation.
The pictures don't do the mannequin finish justice. They are red glitter to match the old school red glitter bass drum wraps. I wanted a punch of red throughout the store to coincide with the R&B Logo.
This floor plan was used for initial store set and denotes product category and fixture placement overview.
Simple and inexpensive cosmetic refresh by adding paint, light fixtures, mannequins, fixtures and SEG frame/graphics to reinforce the brand presentation.
New mannequins, lighting, fixtures, branding, marketing and digital.
This location lacked a dynamic presentation at the storefront. I came in with simple risers and forms to block the view under the table and create the drama to draw interest. In addition I added capacity by placing a spinner at the storefront.
The "Core" stores are a custom, higher end souvenir, logo and sundry shops. I fused the fashion & souvenir merchandising concepts together, utilizing only tables for floor fixtures to create a menagerie of product presented in multiple vessels placed haphazardly. The introduction of the bamboo, sand and seagrass elements soften the coldness of the blue and steel as well as invoke a relaxing spa-like environment suitable for an oceanside resort.
Mannequin moments and feature merchandising
Cattywampus merchandising with fun vessels to encourage searching and the excitement of discovery for the consumer.
What a fun project! This pop-up shop was constructed with 4 x 10 shipping pallets and utilizes Ikea lighting and furniture. This approach kept build costs very low considering the square footage. Cost was roughly $10 sq. ft. not including the lighted channel and halo signs used for other projects.
I designed this booth re-using the pallets from my previous design which featured more clothing. In this particular design, I needed to feature/merchandise only caps and sunglasses, both small items. I used a combination of custom made, free-standing sunglass cases, cube shelves and the small version of the vending machines.
The president of BEX wanted to create a chill meeting environment to record videos and perform podcasts in addition to featuring product.
I could not fully remodel the leased space so I installed a portable museum wall to block off the office doors and installed a barn door to close off the open entrance to the back. A little bit of paint and a huge mural set the brand tone. I then sectioned the space into 3 chill areas for meetings and accessorized with BEX signage, fixtures and product.

Sunglass planogram provided to Landmark Mercantile in order to set up/install their BEX shop-in-shop.
This is a smaller version of the pop-up shop only featuring single samples of product in the 2018 catalog. NOTE: I did not merchandise this booth...don't look too close!
District Market - BWI Airport
Women's Accessories & Lingerie prototype store designed with a vintage dressing room or boudoir in mind, combined with a contemporary edge.
This higher end women's boutique was designed to be trendy and hip but but with a modern sophistication that attracts women of all ages. The splashes of teal accents combined with chrome fixtures and the neutrals of black, white and gray create a calming environment in contrast to the loud club music you hear throughout the store.
Per the properties request, we built this version of Carina using accents of plum versus the trendy teal. The color change made for a more sophisticated feel complimentary to the Borgata Hotel environment.
Full remodel of a Las Vegas souvenir store
WTLV - Excalibur, Las Vegas
New store construction and prototype design for a Men's Boutique. Features warm Plyboo finishes and gunmetal & cement fixtures creating a warm, masculine and trendy environment.
These fixtures were a unique challenge. I needed to compliment the hotel furnishings and environment by making the fixtures look like furniture. They had to be functional, flexible and lockable. After an aggressive 12 week design and build process, the millwork team and I successfully opened the store on time in conjunction with the hotel remodel.
The lockable armoire with glass doors can house shelves, face outs and jet rail to accommodate a changing product assortment.
Full remodel of a contemporary women's boutique.
Plush destination with shelf divider tracking the installation of Sintra header box channel creating a faux soffit effect.
Full remodel of a Souvenir, Gift and Sundry store.
Also known as a "kiosk", 5 of these mini boutiques were designed with a contemporary minimalist concept in mind, but still feel like a store you can step into. They were add-on retail spaces to an existing bridge/walkway to coincide with the remodel of the resort.
This image shows the flexibility of a permanent kiosk and how a basic shell can be transformed into any brand. Featured here is a version of the LICK boutique.
Vison page from the creative deck detailing exterior signs and egress door concepts.
Completed install of exterior sign concept as detailed on the vision board.
Egress door in a weathered "Stage Door" concept. The artchitect originally spec'd this door to be glass. Considering the rock and roll theme, a cheeky stage door completed the look of the store exterior and was still functional for fire code.
Borgata & Co. Sign Design & Installation
I custom design, develop, source and project manage each fixture while focusing on romancing product in a cost effective and functional manner.
Fixtures range from temporary corrugated and acrylic to permanent installations.
Floating cash wrap in final stages of the build. A POS station is located on each end, with a teak lined accessory case in the center. Designed to look like touring/roadie gear boxes.
I designed this cash wrap to eliminate the store associates from linger behind the cash wrap. This concept encourages store associates to be out on the floor interacting with guests.
Concept deck page for T-shirt wall unit
T-shirt wall fixture consisting of a lower half for folded Tee inventory and corresponding upper half to feature the printed design.
Concept deck page for drum shelf
Drum shelves to house hard lines and soft lines. Made from authentic vintage bass drums and modified to use as a shelf fixture.
In larger store locations where queue lines are needed, they were using the Walgreens version of a slatwall stanchion. I wanted to provide a more attractive and comfortable experience while encouraging waiting customers to pick through the bins. I also wanted to keep space for pegging but allow the bins to be shopped from both sides. The removable hooks add capacity to merchandise shopping totes.
8 spinning panel fixture to house magnets, key chains, jewelry and name programs. I designed these to replace vendor fixtures and create a destination.
In-store execution
My design intent was to have a vintage flair using a not so typical substrate. I wanted this displayer to have a premium feel without being too costly. The assembly is dimensional, with the pop-out logo and backer featuring intentional white masking under specific areas like the plane and the logo. The tower allows Miles to sit in the plane while telling the Miracle Flights story.
In-store activation
I designed these wall units and accompanying fixtures to have the appearance of wood crates for the Neighborgoods gift shop at DCA airport.
In-store execution of my fixtures in addition to all propping and decor I designed and curated.
This wall cabinet features sunglasses, optical or both. The flexibility of the upper wall panels and pull-out feature drawers allow for product romancing or full capacity presentations. The back panel and both logos are backlit sign white acrylic. Recessed in the front is a brochure holder for brand collateral while the changeable upper panel interior signage can speak to product or campaign initiatives.
This free-standing floor sunglass fixture features 24 pairs of sunglasses in front of a soft white illuminated panel. The unique locking system secures the product, but allows the customer to touch, feel and recognize the BEX quality. A two sided, lockable storage cabinet is included for the convenience of safely storing inventory. In addition, the fixture is two-sided and manually rotates which allows for placement just about anywhere. The bonus feature of removable/changeable graphics are provided to romance the brand and highlight product knowledge.
This fixture combines black and white polycarbonate, clear acrylic, laminated MDF and illuminated logo’s. The small footprint complements the cap fixture with a matching height, making for a strong statement when positioned next to each other.
12 pair capacity, rotating and backlit. This lockable fixture combines black and white polycarbonate and clear acrylic. Design is complimentary to the floor standing fixture keeping with the brand image.
I designed this fully litho wrapped, corrugated floor display to emulate the permanent cap fixture and to maintain a premium look. The intended use of this display is for temporary promotions or events as it is far more cost effective to produce and ship than a permanent metal fixture.
This fixture also provides the flexibility to increase capacity by adding hooks on the side for merchandising accessories and beanies.
I designed this fully litho wrapped display to promote product pre-packs at special prices. The upper back panel is a grid, 6” on center to allow product size flexibility as well as capacity flexibility.
Full litho wrapped corrugated dump bin with a unique clear acetate window. The display cost a little more to add the windows however it made the product highly visible in comparison to traditional dump bins.
Full litho wrapped corrugated dump bin with a unique clear acetate window. This version is squared off and simplified in comparison to the unique corner fold and pop-out top of the Swisher Sweets dump bin.
Educational learning kit for the scholastic channel. All books, workbooks and other tools are neatly housed within their own section for presentation and storage. This piece is fully wrapped with an offset printed high gloss substrate.
Designed and project managed all elements of construction, print and assembly. The key to the design, was creating a unit with the smallest footprint possible while maximizing product capacity yet keeping it flexible and making the side marketing interchangeable.
Simple and inexpensive, countertop solution for merchandising lighter assortment. The dividers are flexible and can be used with other small hardline goods.
All pieces represented begin from the conceptual stage to design direction, custom photography and retouching to printing techniques and production to distribution.
Developed concept and directed retouching to show the fusion of each flavored candy bar. Pictures are quickly recognizable versus reading text. The fusion images created the whole look and feel of the packaging and uniquely told the flavor story.
Packaging was designed to coordinate when merchandised in a row for maximum impact. The use of color for each package reinforces the flavor image.
Dimensional presentation with dynamic digital, and exterior window wrap featuring rainbow mylar accents.
Sports shop-n-shop dimensional marketing.
Keeping with the brand colors, this execution was to drive traffic into a new store location with light traffic. Viewable and readable from across the street. The location went from $4k a day to over $10k a day the first weekend of installation.
Simple addition of paint, branding, wall wraps, cooler and fixture signage transformed this consumable space into a separate shop within an existing store.
Art direction for in-store collateral supporting an amazing charity
Simple and inexpensive way to create impact on large table presentations. This was used in a few large airport locations featuring seasonal candy and gifts.
I needed to develop a new sign vehicle to make a bigger impact visually and keep it separate from the usual 11x14 price sign cards. These two sided shrouds, placed over the standard metal sign holders gave me the punch I needed to communicate the message in such a large department. While being a completely different design, the kids signage worked well visually in conjunction with the seasonal campaign without causing too much sign pollution.
A temporary floor standing sign complimented the 4-way rack shrouds and again provided the extra punch I couldn't get from the standard meal sign holder. It also freed up a standard sign holder to utilize for other promotions.
For larger campaigns I developed bulk stack price boxes to pull the campaign through the racetrack. They served the same function as the regular acrylic sign holders but gave the visual impact I was looking for. Side cards and toppers were utilized throughout the store to call out Mother's Day, Father's Day and July 4th holidays. This approach kept the campaign cohesive throughout the 60,000 sq. ft. store.
This image highlights the racetrack grid toppers featuring the "Mom" inserts for the additional yet flexible call out. This approach saved quite a bit of money by printing less signs.
Price and item 11x14 card pulling the campaign through the departments.
Testing a promotional and category driven storefront statement utilizing oversized marketing, pointed messaging and organized product presentation.
The sign holder, mannequin and product is positioned to deter theft and keep people from sitting on the sign platform yet keeping the presentation intentional.
I designed, provided production art and coordinated install.
Art direction, design, development and purchase of the storefront sign, shopping bags and custom made store interior wallpaper.
Concept, art direction, photography coordination
Conceptualized and directed design and photography to quickly send the message of new fruit flavored cigars yet keeping with the Swisher Sweets brand recognition.
The image of the 22x28 storefront sign was part of a larger campaign I conceptualized. It featured a combination of my window trim and offered an ornament purchase that donated proceeds to helping the homeless. I also sourced and produced/purchased the 2-sided ornaments to match the house image shown on the far left.
Custom product paintings designed for Sterling Jewelers Spring campaign window trim. Each piece was printed on a canvas board and placed in the window using an easel, while completing the look with paint tubes and artist brushes.
Designed cooler wall graphics to create product branding with visual interest and to complete the environmental design. Coordinated production and install.
I have been delighted and privileged to be able to work on the vending machine program for BEX Sunglasses or as I like to call it 24/hour self-serve retail. No other major eyewear company has yet to really explore this space and the success of these machines is attributed to the virtual mirror which lets you try on the glasses in real time. No uploading a photo….it’s pretty cool technology.
This is the concept/build sheet for the shroud that will be built around the largest combination locker and elevator system.
The shroud will romance the cold vending machine giving it the look of a retail space with a reletively small footprint.
This combo machine located in the South Point Hotel & Casino Equestrian Center houses 40 caps/facings and 24 facings = 120 pairs of sunglasses.
The compact footprint of this 24h our self-serve store houses a 32” LED touch screen and camera featuring a virtual mirror for customers to “try” before they buy.
It holds a max capacity of 32 custom made sunglass boxes and only takes credit card purchases. A remote management system allows for real-time inventory updates and product management.
The foot print is all of 4 square feet and only requires a 110v receptacle and a CAT5 cable.
